The Prodigal Player

About

As this website’s name implies, I am a prodigal player of Magic: The Gathering. A player from Revised through Alliances, I gave up the hobby in pursuit of other more pressing issues as I entered high school and I never gave much more thought to the game until two years ago, at the age of 27. I began playing again during the release season of Eventide, and since then I have re-discovered Magic as an incredibly rewarding hobby.

Although I am an avid reader of competitive articles, and I have a great passion for deck building and meta-game analysis, my daily life precludes me from becoming a PTQ grinder or even considering the pro-tour route.

Thus, my own personal decklists and thoughts on the game have been mostly resigned to my own desk drawer, so to speak. I have started this website to change that.

How To Use This Site:

I aim to be something of a contrarian. There are players out there who have the time and the means to playtest every potentiality that they can visualize. I am not one of those players. I seek to uncover overlooked ideas, and to question prevailing paradigms. I am not interested in tweaking netdecks and posting them. I’m sure you have other places to go for that sort of thing.

Not everything I will say will be on the mark, but hopefully I will challenge you to think a little bit differently about our hobby and your own approaches to strategy.
